The "Made in Turan" brand uniting the trademarks of the Turkic world has been created at the initiative of Azerbaijan. Speaking at the "Turan E-Commerce and E-Export Forum" held in Baku, the Chairman of the Azerbaijan Franchising Association, Camid Movsumov, stated that based on this platform, which includes seven Turkic states as well as Hungary, all products produced by these countries will be presented to the global trade market under this brand. Currently, relevant technical-legal and economic mechanisms are being developed for the market entry of the "Made in Turan" trademark. The process of officially introducing the new Turkic brand to global and regional companies will begin at the Turkish States Economic Forum, to be held in February 2025.
The "Made in Turan" project was created to introduce the economic, cultural, and technological potential of the Turkic world to the global stage from a broader perspective. The main goal and purpose of the national brand concept are to further strengthen the economic unity of the Turkic world and motivate national companies to enter the global market under the "Made in Turan" name. According to the concept, several priorities have been identified, including organizing business training for entrepreneurs from Turkic states, coordinating relations between investors and startups, participating in international events under a unified export brand, identifying new ways of cooperation with partner countries, supporting the creation of export business models, and more.
By establishing a joint trade mark, Turkic states can achieve significant opportunities in implementing economic projects, attracting mutual investments, building modern production and processing alliances, and expanding export geographies.
The "Made in Turan" brand will encompass not only food but also non-food products, industrial goods, and other export varieties under a single brand. Additionally, several goods and services are planned to be certified under this brand in foreign countries.
The "Made in Turan" brand will include several commercial and economic benefits. These include concessions related to production and export, such as certificates of origin, marketing, market access, and more. To promote the new pan-Turkic brand in global markets and encourage its widespread adoption, unified Turkic export missions will be organized, and "Turan Houses" will be established in various foreign countries. Moreover, integrating the brand as a major trademark into global digital platforms and including it in the ranks of large online conglomerates like "Alibaba" and "Amazon" are among the primary goals.
The "Made in Turan" initiative is part of the modern economic-commercial-investment concept of the Turkic states. This new model is also based on the principles of the Turan Special Economic Zone (TURANSEZ). Notably, at the 13th meeting of the economy and trade ministers of member countries of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), held last month in Bishkek, the parties supported the initiative to establish the Turan Special Economic Zone, which includes Hungary. TURANSEZ, intended to be created in line with the "Astana Declaration," is considered a joint platform for modern economic cooperation among OTS countries, with various programs planned under a unified vision.
As part of the Turan economic platform, plans include creating an institution for promoting investments among Turkic states, establishing a coordinating body for finance, investment, and capital funds, and taking other related steps.
One of the main outcomes of this idea was the creation of the Turkic Investment Fund (TIF), the shared economic-financial structure of the Turkic states, in mid-2024. The TIF's charter capital has been formed, financial-budgetary capabilities have been ensured, and the fund began operations in the first week of November.
The Turkic Investment Fund assumes a unified donor function to determine and implement the economic-financial-investment outlooks and future investment plans of Turkic-speaking countries. The fund aims to contribute to the economic development of OTS countries by expanding intra-regional trade and supporting economic activities. These priorities align closely with the concept of the Turan Special Economic Zone.
Overall, "Made in Turan," TURANSEZ, the Turkic Investment Fund, and other institutions will serve as solid pillars for achieving the main strategic goal of the Organization of Turkic States—the creation of a unified Turkic Economic Union.
